Mr. Dean Johnson

Dear Hoover Middle School Students, Families, and Community Members,

I am honored and excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Herbert Hoover Middle School!

Since opening in 1958, Hoover Middle has been a proud cornerstone of the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda community. For over six decades, our school has been committed to helping students develop the academic skills, social-emotional growth, and strong character they need to succeed in high school and beyond.

At Hoover, our mission is: to cultivate self-directed, lifelong learners of good character. Our vision is to foster a respectful, caring community where academic excellence, personal growth, and meaningful engagement empower every learner. These core values guide how we teach, lead, and grow together.

We believe that literacy is the foundation of learning and essential for future opportunities and success. Through reading, writing, and effective communication, our students build the skills they need to succeed across all subject areas and in life beyond the classroom.

We also believe in the power of hard work and perseverance. Growth takes effort, and at Hoover, we teach students that success comes not only from talent, but from dedication, resilience, and a willingness to keep going—even when challenges arise. With high expectations and a culture of respect and responsibility, our staff works each day to help students think critically, collaborate effectively, and pursue excellence.

Together, as a school community, we will continue to build an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Sincerely,

Mr. Johnson
